Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do I make an appointment?
If you are a new or prospective patient, please submit a New Patient Inquiry Form here.
If you are an existing patient with an established treatment relationship with Dr. Ross, please use the secure Patient Portal.
-
How much do appointments cost? How do I pay?
Up-to-date information on our fees for initial evaluations and follow-up appointments can be found in our Practice Policies. These will be shared with prospective patients after they submit a New Patient Inquiry.
Payments can be made via credit card through our secure Patient Portal or via check or Venmo.
-
Does your practice take insurance?
Dr. Ross does not accept any insurance payments and is not an “in-network” provider for any plans. Many insurance companies offer “out-of-network” benefits, which may allow you to be reimbursed for services. Our clinic will provide you with a bill for services rendered that you may submit to your insurance companies; our clinic does not handle claims directly.
-
When can I consider Dr. Ross my doctor?
Dr. Ross will be your or your child’s doctor only after you have mutually agreed to a treatment plan after the initial consultation. Therefore, visiting this website, any preliminary email or phone communication, initial evaluation, or other contact do not constitute a doctor-patient relationship.
If you have any questions or concerns about this policy or any others, please do not hesitate to ask Dr. Ross.
-
Do you only prescribe medications?
Not necessarily. Dr. Ross is licensed and formally trained to both prescribe medications and provide psychotherapy. Sometimes, psychotherapy alone is sufficient to improve symptoms. However, medications can also be a very effective tool in the treatment of some mental health conditions.
Dr. Ross will take an individualized approach to treatment planning and provide recommendations that may include medication alone, therapy alone, or both in combination.
Prescriptions, if needed, will be sent securely and electronically directly to a pharmacy of your choice.
-
Is my personal health information secure?
Dr. Ross uses an electronic health record that complies with the highest standards of privacy protection, including secured servers.
For all existing patients, communication with Dr. Ross through her secure, HIPAA-compliant Patient Portal is encouraged.
Dr. Ross takes confidentiality very seriously. Prospective patients may review the Confidentiality section in our Practice Policies for further details.
-
Do you offer in-person appointments?
No, not at this time. All visits are currently conducted via telemedicine, using a HIPAA secure video-conferencing platform.
If an intake is scheduled with Dr. Ross, you will be provided with information beforehand on how to connect virtually for the appointment.
-
What is required for a visit?
Because all visits are currently provided via telemedicine, all patients must have access to a secure Wifi connection and a confidential space in which to have the appointment. At this time, all patients must currently live in the state of California.
For new patients, it is helpful to have information on the following prior to your initial visit: past medical history, family history, prior psychiatric treatment and medication trials, current medications, neuropsychological testing, and academic/behavioral information of your child (e.g. IEPs, 504 plans). It will also be helpful to consider your goals for treatment.
-
What are your office hours?
Dr. Ross’ office hours are limited. Please see Practice Policies for more information on her availability and expectations for contact.
Please note that psychiatric and medical emergencies are not appropriate for outpatient office treatment. If there is an imminent risk of danger to self or others, contact 911 immediately or go to the nearest emergency room.
