
About Dr. Ross
Dr. Cordelia Ross, MD is recognized by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as both a general psychiatrist as well as a child and adolescent psychiatrist. She is a medically-trained physician and attended medical school at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. She then completed a pediatrics internship at the Massachusetts General Hospital for Children in Boston, Massachusetts. Her internship was followed by general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital, both teaching hospitals at Harvard Medical School. During her training, Dr. Ross served as a clinical instructor for Harvard medical students and physician assistants (PAs) and a pre-medical advisor for Harvard undergraduate students. She also taught several courses for psychiatry and pediatrics residents.
Dr. Ross is a professor at the Stanford University Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Child Development. She works as an attending child psychiatrist at Stanford Children’s Health, where she provides diagnostic evaluations, consultations, and medication management services for children and adolescents. She also teaches Stanford medical students and supervises child psychiatry residents.
Dr. Ross is currently licensed to see patients in Massachusetts and California.
Our Approach
Comprehensive. Dr. Ross utilizes a comprehensive, developmentally-informed approach to treatment planning for patients of all ages. She uses her knowledge of biological, psychological, social, cultural, and cognitive development to understand the specific emotional and behavioral challenges faced by her patients.
Individualized. Dr. Ross believes that patients must be evaluated within the context of who they are, what they do, who supports them, and the unique stressors they encounter. Her treatment recommendations are individualized to each patient and family.
Evidence-based. Dr. Ross maintains an up-to-date understanding of the latest research and evidence about the safety and efficacy of medications and therapeutic modalities. She attends and presents at local and national conferences and is an active member of AACAP, the largest organization for child and adolescent psychiatrists.
Collaborative. Dr. Ross believes that every patient and family knows themselves best. Dr. Ross will never “push” a particular treatment or regimen, but instead will equip a patient and family with the information to make the best decision for themselves.
Compassionate. Dr. Ross believes that no matter how big or small a problem may seem, a person’s suffering is valid and each patient must be treated with the utmost respect and compassion. She has been recognized for her empathic interpersonal style and clinical excellence.
